OOOh also Now you do have to regiater with Yahoo and put a file on your server that yahoo verifies as part of their new API format. I was only getting questions till I finally reregistered under the new format now I get 1000's of Q's and A's. I didn't believe it at first but when Nexis said they changed it, I said yea right but he was right they have and now it works. There's no need to worry about registering just put generic for your API and upload the file they give you and wallah, all is good now....Now if only the server load would come down lol

Generic you say? For generic, you aren't required to upload a file, that's only for the Browser Based application. Are you sure you aren't confusing those?

Okay, to Nexia:

I reinstalled version 1.5.6, and it works great now! No more mass users. A few bugs that I have found:

-Sometimes the first post, or the question, is posted later on in the thread with answers at the top and it in the middle. I think that's because all the posts were posted at the same time, or something. This happens rarely, but it is a bit confusing for members to see answers and then a question later on.
-Sometimes when viewing the threads in a forum, the person who made the thread is the last person to reply even if there are more replies in that thread. So for example (This is just an EXAMPLE): If Bob made a thread and Mary replied, Bob is still shown as the last poster even though Mary replied to Bob's thread. (This ONLY happens with threads that are first posted with replies, not threads that have replies posted to them later. And this only happens SOMETIMES)

hum, i've send this often lately, and this is not related to ico-content but a decay between your clock and your database clock... i can't do a thing about this... you may be hosted on hostgator or another server related to google, because they had this bug for some days ... where the database is not sticking the right time when tagging time() ... really strange behavior, but each vBulletin release had that kind of complaints... it just depend on the database.. "repairing" it usually fix it...

Chaosis: Great that you got it finally going. How many forums are you running it on or categories? Like I said I have a 155 forums, I had them all going on my server but I'm only up to 30 because of the server load, but I have an almost exact mirror of yahoo so that's a lot of keywords and one hell of a server load. Nexia has it set for the cron to 11 minutes which is actually not a bad time to spread out the load. Before the default was something like 30 minutes etc and man noone could get on when that was updating. another key advisement is to shorten the days it looks for answers. I start off with 7 then ease it back to one day when I feel I am caught up or I have enough answers. If the server load issue could be tweaked then this would be par excellance. also under the keywords for topic search I use the correct format keyword comma space and comma after that keyword. If I have two keywords that go together I use the + so it would be keyword+keyword comma Even if I just use one key word I always put a comma at the end. always put a comma even if it is only one keyword, it actually helps the script.....

Is there any way of setting this to post say twenty or thirty posts per day without having others post new threads in the same forum as where the posts are set to go?

So far, first impressions of this are very good with realistic looking posts rather than one person trying to generate and post as different people.

I take 6 to 700 hits a day and this has encouraged people to start posting, but its only been about 3 or four posts so far.

Thanks again for keeping a great product alive

that's what we encountered with a lot of keywords or a lot of forums with the actualy setup... and if you have set the Test feature to more than "1", sure it will lag even more...

i'm building a new product that will replace ico-content in the next months, not right now because i have no time for it, but before the summer time.

Worked for me on vb3.8.1 using the ico-content release from January right out of the box. Thanks so much for this addition!

Hi guys, first thank you for this.
I want to apply for yahoo API key but in the application form they are asking many questions. Those who succeded at getting an API, can you please help me fill that application? I don't wish to be refused :-D

About your application:
Kind of Application:.....................
Description:...............................
Application URL:.........................
Security & Privacy
Yahoo! APIs use the OAuth protocol for secure validation of API usage and end-user authentication, if needed.

Access Scopes:
-This app will only access public APIs, Web Services, or RSS feeds?
-This app requires access to private user data?

Application Domain: ..................................

Also, should we give them our real name or fake one?

Please help and many thanks

Using Ico-Content is not illegal or illicit in anyway. Provide real information and follow the policies setup as they aren't that strenuous.

I've had several API's with Yahoo for awhile, just give them the website address for your forum (i.e. forums.domain.com or domain.com/forums), Application Name is whatever you want to call your forum, description is what it is just a description of what you are doing with the data (i.e. Forum using Yahoo Answers, complying with policy of "Powered by Yahoo Web Services) or whatever you want to say.

It's not a matter of being approved, the key is generated instantly, the key is just complying with the TOS.

You can use the generic access, as I haven't found a need to Browser Based Authentication.

That's it! Just copy/paste the key into you ico-content settings in the admincp.

Goodluck to ya!

I'm not getting any sign ups or questions/answers

When I try to run the task manually i get

Code:
Could not connect to Yahoo : url=http://answers.yahooapis.com/AnswersService/V1/questionSearch?&appid=MY-APP-I.D&region=us&region=uk&region=ca&region=au&search_in=question&date_range=all&sort=date_desc&results=4&query=Computers

edit: Now working after upgrading to 1.5.6

Not to intrude. I know this is vbbulletin based, but can someone tell me how difficult it would be to make 1.56 work with SMF?

Thanks,

RD Branson
