none equal vb, it's really the best, for mod, for customisation, IPB sux for the price, myBB it's the best in free i think (it's really similar for template, and look, and have many mods and big community)

Just a thought, for moving away from PHP..

I used to use IkonBoard for ages, and found it really interesting.
It uses CGI-BIN, so it's a different option than the newer ones.

The only downside? development stuck somewhere. maybe they're all dead. ;P
