Which database system is considered the best in the market ? Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2 etc.?

For the web, MySQL, running with PhP and an Apache server is the best available it outways ANY!
For stand-alone versions, you can download a MySQL module, but try to avoid any Microsoft product they are free to start with, but as you grow, you need to buy additional modules (exxxxpensive!)
DB2/3/-- is not a very good one, as you have to keep your indexes up-to-date manually.

For me, Its Oracle database is the best for-ever for Large and Medium Scale Business and for small scale its the MS SQL Server is the best one. Oracle enhancing their products continually, and giving support to many different Operating System vendors. and discovering lot of other features related to simplify the oracle administration, for example - Grid control,ASM,RAC,Auto Perf Monitoring, and Tuning. So oracle is the best one in the market.
