Ok. I got my domain name, and I got my own web server (it's my actual PC), so how do I make the domain name point to my computer?
I'm with network solutions and looking at my "change domain to point to" menu.
I got the options of:
1) "Move DNS to a new name server".
2) "DNS manager - Advanced tools".
I'm guessing I don't want 1. I'm guessing that's to change to another registry company.
Not sure about these in 2 though:
Host Numeric IP
www 216.168.224.63
Under construction Page
@ (None) 216.168.224.63
Under construction Page
* (All Others) none
If I change the host www one to my IP address, would that take people to me from my domain name?
And what's this about name servers too? I thought they were the servers that held huge libraries of domain names on the internet and were touched only by those authorised. Not by anyone that bought a name?
it says "WARNING: For advanced users only. For more information on DNS Services, see our FAQ section below. Changes made to these Internet settings may cause you to lose your existing
e-mail and Web sites". in the second menu. Should I not be touching this bit? Or does that not effect me?
