Is there a way to play Sims 2 on line?

I love the sims and have been playing it for years. I just got the Internet and was wondering if there was a way to play online with real people, instead of with the people in the game. If theres a way please tell me how to do it and if it cost money. Thanks for your help )<br />

There's an online game called The Sims Online, it's based off of The Sims 1 though. Go to www.thesimsonline.com. I think it costs $9.99 a month
