How to open a photoshop made image in fireworks

Hello again people

I have a little problem.

I created an image in Adobe Photoshop CS3 and I need to get it open in Adobe Fireworks CS3.

Is this possible?

I have tried changing the file type to .PNG and then open it but i still get the same error message:
'Could not open the file. Unsupported file format'
I Have used downloaded photoshop brushes from deviantart in the image, could this be the problem?
Did you save the file as png, or did you just rename the extension to .png? (Sorry if this seem like a silly question, but I've met people that've done this.)

The Adobe packages are very compatible when it comes to opening each other files, so I'm guessing that the file extension doesn't match the format it's saved in.
Ahhh, You are a genius (and i am incredibly stupid.)
I, embarrassingly, was actually just renaming the extension (Sorry I'm still new to all this.)

So I'm guessing i go to Save As.. and choose .png? but i cannot find .png style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
file>save as>

its about 5th from the bottom inbetween pixar and Portable bit map

(or atleast it should be)
:S I have different options mine are

File>Save As...

Formats:
Photoshop
Photoshop EPS
Photoshop DCS
Large Document File
Photoshop PDF
Photoshop RAW
TIFF

Where am i going wrong?
Fireworks doesn't open you PSD files? Do you get any errors when you try to do so?
I would expect all Adobe applications to be able to open the files of all the other Adobe applications. Weird if you have to save it in a third party filetype.
Ok Here is how it is.

When I download .PSD files off the internet (From tutorials etc.) it works a treat in fireworks.

When I try to open .PSD files i have created in Photoshop in fireworks - i get the error message :
'Could not open the file. Unsupported file format'
When you save, do you type in .psd your self, or do you select Photoshop PSD from the drop down list of file types?

If you can upload style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
Thanks.

Hmm.. Odd. I got more options style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
You'll be glad to know problem is solved, so you wont here any more whining from me, (until my next problem anyway )
I looked around at some other forums and i tried a few things so not exactly sure which style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

But for those who are having the same problem, i think i just had to set the image to 8 bit.
Don't really know what this means but i read it in a forum, tried it - and now i can save so

Thanks to all that helped out .
Happy holidays.
Yea, changing the image to 8-bit sounds like a plausible solution. Most formats can style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks very much.
