This is basic but the best...

Search Engine Friendly Design Make sure that your website is crawlable, meaning search engines can read what is on your site. Stay away from Flash, Javascript, and other un-readable formats. Use a text navigation so search engines can crawl and index all of your pages.

Keyword Research You need to perform in-depth keyword research to see what people are searching for. Once you can identify which keywords/phrases people are using to find your products/services you can start to optimize your site for those terms.

Unique Title & Meta Tags You want to create keyword rich title and meta descriptive tags. Make sure that you are not spamming search engines (keyword stuffing).

Create lots of Content Search engines love sites that have a lot of unique, keyword rich content. Add a blog to your site or produce a monthly newsletter. This will help drive people to your site and help get links into your site.

Get lots of links Through content, social media, and other silos get as many high quality inbound links to your site.

If you are looking for an SEO checkup list, I have created a detailed blog post on what you should look for and how you can SEO your site.

Here is a reply that I wrote on the WarriorForums regarding this exact question which is an excellent place to visit and learn more about making a living on the Internet.

It may not start out in a way that answers the question precisely, but if you read the post in it's entirity I believe you will be pleased.

I'm a bit surprised no one has answered your question yet as it is a good question. Perhaps the reason responses are lacking is that they believe that the question doesn't exactly fit the topic at hand. Part of me would agree. However, if we don't know how to rank high on the Search Engines the result will be very few clicks on Google AdSense.

Take my new http//Search-Engine-Optimization-And-Beyond.com site for example. Since it is new there is very little activity to be had right now as compared to other sites I run. Yes, the age of a website directly impacts where you will rank on the search engines even though that's no a factor you can alter using white hat tactics.
However, this should not lead one to think that there are no excellent ways to positively influence the rating of your website as the search engines are concerned.

Therefore, following are some ways to influence the search engines with the end result of gaining additional income with your AdSense related websites.

* Use meta tags. These are tags that fit in your header areas. If you need the exact code search for "meta tag codes" on Google. Yes, it's true that they don'e mean as much as they did in yesteryear; but discarding them all completely is an error of grave import that some webmasters choose to make.

* Don't forget title tags as well as H1 & H2 tags. You can find all sorts of information on the net about these. One thing you don't hear a lot about is using title tags in your hyperlinks that have your keywords included. The code for this is [title=""]

* Use your keyword at the top & bottom of your page as well as in the text itself. However don't spam the search engines by entering your keyword to many times. Instead use your keyword appropriately as well as concepts that relate to your keyword while not actually being the exact keyword itself.

* Use Web 2.0 tactics like social bookmarking & networking to optimize your website. How does this work? Simple. The more highly targeted back links you have from PR3 & above websites the better the position of your website will end up being on the search engines.

Without question there are other ways to optimize your website and receive more clicks on your AdSense ads, but following the above points is a dramatic start to your process. If you would like more ideas that would help just send me an e-mail at [email protected].
