Can I Use my (owned -without updates) license in a "Keygen version"?

I have a owned license but the updates are finished and I have a vb 3.7.4 PL2 and i want to update my vb, but i haven't money to renew the updates (60USD).
Can I install a keygen version with my license to keep it in the forum but with last vb??

Please help.

Nope. the retail version is different from the nulled keygen code is taken out and the license would be useless so no point.

Download the non keygen version and manually add your license to the headers before you upload the files to your server BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP your site, run the upgrade. If it dies a horrible death, restore your backup and look for a different alternative ... I would try it first on a local test system to make sure it does smoke, however...

"Non-keygen" and "keygen" are both nulled just the keygen adds a fake license to the files.

then I must use a null version and edit all these files and add mi license?

I don't get why you are doing that? unless you don't want to pay for renewal and want to use a updated version? vB also provides PATCHES for FREE.

So @ first.
You have a nulled Version of VB. Then you can use any other Versions. Everbody have License, but this License is a fake. So you can download Every Versions from vbteam and install.

1. BACKUP
2. Mysql-Database copy to a second (shit my english -.-) table?Database? I hope you know what i mean.
3. create a new folder in the root names "testboard"
4.Upload the root folder from the backup in the new folder
~ now you have 2 pgaes. yourpage.com/ and yourpage.com/testboard/ but there are different forums.
5. Upload the new Vbulletin files in the folder /testboard. You have to overwrite.
6. You have to rename the config.php.new in /home/testboard/includes/config.php into config.php
You have to edit this file
7. done
the you could look if it runs :)

You don't need to do any of the tedious work simply upload a non-keygen version.
If you have a licence then you can easily prove to anyone that asks any awkward questions.

Weather it is actually "legit" to update a legal version with a naughty version is another matter though which is what you asked in th first place.

The problem is that vB will KNOW it a illegal version.

#1 there are no callbacks
#2 You have a new version, but when your licenses expired it was an older version
#3 It's a lot of work to do the manual editing, unless you create a script to do it for you.

Yeah I get what you mean but vB dont care if you are running a nulled copy as long as you have a licence...think of all the people that used a null then went a purchased a licence...that said it is there where thing go dark which is why I wrote...

so from your reply I guessing its not ok to upgrade if you haven't paid for the yearly "subscription" with that particular upgrade...:)

Well they CHECK and match the version number. If the version number doesn't match they also bug you and send notices to your host.

personally.. I'd just pay the $60 if I wanted to upgrade... why? too much BS involved.. UNLESS your on offshore hosting.. then heck you shouldn't even NEED a license :p

So you can afford a vB license but not a renewal fee?

And anyways, why do you need to renew? If you have vb 3.8, then your fine and can download patches for FREE.

I say you wait till vB4 comes out and if you like it renew.... because if most people DON'T like vB4 people will be leaving....
