AJAX Implementation on Vbulletin

Hello dear ones,

I need some short assistance from you please.

I am implementing an AJAX update in such a way, to automatically desplay a POP up, or a DIV alert when a new thread submitted. and also when you are on a page where there is current thread, a new coloured row should display when there is a new thread. I am thinking of the AJAX technology to use and how can I hook these to the existing Vbulleting programm.

A piece of advice, allow users to switch it off in their control panel in the same way users can disable the displaying of avatars. What you want to do would be very annoying even though it may seen like a good idea.

Actually, I am doing it for a customer but if you can pls tell me how to do it. specially, which will be the hooking point for that functionality.
