If i'm running SEO campaign for google ranking, will it effect similarly to my yahoo ranking? That depends on how you do your SEO work, Google and Yahoo have different algorithms that's why their search results are different. my site is shown well on google but not on yahoo at all. what should i do? if you do well in google then more than likely your google stat will also be well
Working for Google will help you with yahoo. If I remember correctly, Yahoo and bing share their information. If this is the case then you need to sign up for the bing webmaster tools and submit your sitemap there as well. First, it's important to realize that the search engine world is basically split in two: Bing/Yahoo! (Yahoo!'s search results have been driven by Bing's index for the past year or so) and Google. Google is still the king of the mountain, but Bing/Yahoo! have picked up a little market share along the way.
With that in mind, your primary focus should be on obtaining high Google rankings because it will generate more traffic for your site. Once you've accomplished that goal, you can fine tune things to obtain higher rankings for Bing/Yahoo! (if it hasn't happened already). As others have mentioned, Google and Bing/Yahoo! use different algorithms for ranking sites. There are comparisons circulating around, but one general difference is that Google places more emphasis on the link profile of a site whereas Bing/Yahoo! focuses more on the site's content. hi,
There are some differences between the Google and yahoo algorithm,
Meta description is very important for Yahoo, but Google gives importance for Meta Title.
Yahoo gives higher importance for on-page optimization, but Google for off-page optimization such as link building. Likewise the algorithm changes, so you try to do SEO for your site according to the search engine algorithms. I agree with you that all search engines' algorithms are different in many ways. But the major common between them is content. All search engine first go for quality content and then see the rest thing. And i have seen that most of the google result show in bing , but not same case in yahoo. So for yahoo one try to find sites from it , and then use those sites. Yeah, yahoo is kind of odd. I have no idea how to go about ranking on yahoo for my keywords. May be it can affect because all the search engines are considering some main point for their search result. And its also depend on that which activities are you doing Yahoo search results come from Bing. If you want to rank well the two keys are content...lots of textual content, user interaction and social media engagement.
Remember, Bing is a part shareholder in Facebook...so work very hard on increasing your facebook likes and shares. Bing also has an arrangement with Twitter on Data sharing, so getting twits is also important.
Google is basically a self advertising engine that mostly promotes its own websites. It also heavily favours websites from the OPA. Realistically, getting good serps in google is probably more luck then anything. Quote: Originally Posted by opportunist86 http://www.v7n.com/forums/seo-forum/272389-yahoo-google-seo.html#post1745661
