Hi guys
Today I checked and find that Yahoo Profile and Gmail profile both links are dofollow. Anyone used these to get backlink? We should get a backlink if we add our website link to these Dofollow profile system.
Your opinion please?

GCS They may look dofollow but I think they are blocked by robots.txt. Just because a link doesn't have a "rel=nofollow" doesn't mean it is dofollow. You can still block it with the robots meta tag and robots.txt.
I'm pretty sure Google and Yahoo do this, not to mention the profiles might not even be crawled, although I think Google shows your profile in the search results if you make it searchable. well, i haven't added my links on my profiles yet.. should add some links later and check if it will benefit me That could be a good source of backlinks if its effective, but as of now I haven't put in any of my profiles. This is a very unknown way of getting backlinks and overlooked by many webmasters. I don't do this because I find small things like this don't give you a very good ROI (Return of Investment). never heard of this, maybe have a try to check whether it is helpful to our websit Quote: Originally Posted by tentimes They may look dofollow but I think they are blocked by robots.txt. It could be any (or a combination) of the reasons you listed but that's my experience as well. The links indeed do seem to be dofollow but they fail to show up on any of my backlink checkers. They(atleast Google) are dofollow and will not hurt if you place your link.
Your Google profile can reach upto a very high Pagerank and isn't too far from the Google homepage either incase you'd need authority through that method(Angela's theory).
