ok, this may turn out to be quite a long read...so I apologize before hand, but I just have some general questions about this content management system (XOOPS) I been looking into incorporating into my site.

Now according to the software requirements [RL=http://wiki.xoops.org/wakka.php?wakka=XoopsRequirements]here[/URL] I'm okay so far. Do you guys offer an installation at all? Or am I on my own with the installation?

Say if for some reason I install the XOOPS and all and then for some reason I mess up or whatever, meaning I have no access at all to my site/cpanel or whatever. Can you guys reset my whole site again, is there a charge? What can you guys do if I mess up?

This is text from the install guide at XOOPS site:

QUOTE

Before starting the install, be sure to have:

* Setup the HTTP, PHP and database server properly.
* Create a database for your XOOPS 2 installation

(Have your hosting company create one if you can't)

I've never created a database, can you guys do one for me for my XOOPS installation?

A few more questions...Anything else I should know about before I try this installation? Any advise...Do you guys know if any other site hosted here at TCH is using XOOPS...

Thanks in advance for all the help! Rock Sign
You would be on your own to install the software but it will work here. Always back up your site before making changes to it as we are not responsible if something happens. That said we do keep backups if you need it but it is usually a day old so it may not be as current depending on what changes you have made. We can not do the db installation for you either.

We can help as much as possible here in the forums but your best bet is the documentation that comes with it and their support. I have seen the program mentioned here before but am not sure if there are other users of it here.
Rob, thanks for the reply man. I really appreciate it. I totally understand on the install part. Glad to know that TCH is fully compatible with this system. That was one of my main concerns...I definitely got alot of reading to do, no doubt before I even begin this journey.

Just to make sure I understand you correctly. So once I start the install myself, it's no problem for me to post my questions as well here for help. My first stop will definitely be XOOPS website along with their documention and forums for help.

And one last thing Rob, in regards to the backup of my site. I've never done a backup before and I just logged into my cpanel and went under the Backup menu to take a look. I would Generate/Download a full backup of course, but can you briefly explain to me what the 3 destinations mean. I'm sorry for the dumb question, but I just want to make sure...

Thanks again man... Rock Sign
Sure you can ask here, just realize as it is not our product we may not have all of the answers.

Backup;

Home Directory - Saves the backup in the public_html level of your site.

Remote Ftp Server - Saves the backup on a specified remote FTP server.

Remote Ftp Server (passive mode transfer) - Saves the backup on a specified remote FTP server that will only accept passive (PASV) mode FTP transfer. Please refer to your hosting administrator or the remote FTP server if you have questions about passive mode transfer.
sounds good, thanks again for the backup explanation. Have a great weekend! Rock Sign
