Seem this on one page I was looking over a few days ago and have never seen it before, what is the value for the * ?<br />

Never seen it used before.<!--content-->the * is a wildcard, and is used to fill in the rest of the remaining space. For example:<br />

<td width=1px>blahblahblah</td><br />
<td width="*">jf j fljf </td><br />

the first td is set to a specific width... but will expand to accomodate its content. The second td takes up the remaining space.<!--content-->
