Wondering about the future of the server technology like asp.net and MVC [closed]

In today's world of ajax applications where JQuery and Javascript have become the major tools. JQuery plugins seems to replacing .net's So called WebControls. UpdatePanels seems like old clumsy. GridView and DetailsView and listView (oh my) what will they be worthy any more because the learning curve involve with them is far more than its usefulness. The Website I am developing seems to never require any of these controls. So what is the expert advice in these circumstances.

New Member
The future of ASP.NET is web types and mvc. Microsoft will support both technology and all this discuss mvc changing web types has no foundation. So it's future is good, if you have been interested in asp.net technology then I must says that go on.
