I'm working on an intranet app (using IE) which makes use of pop-up windows. When you click a link that opens a new window in front of another window there is a time delay during which the border of the new window can be seen but the window is effectively transparent while it is waiting for a page to load - so the contents of the window below can still be seen. This, apparently, is confusing for some users.
When the page loads in the new window it (obviously) hides the page below. I am looking for ideas on how to make the front window effectively opaque while it is waiting for a page to load. I have tried setting the background colour of the body tag to white but, of course, this has no effect as the page is still on the server - not in the window. I want to avoid loading a dummy (blank) page if possible to avoid two visits to the server.
