I have some new pages, and want them to be indexed asap. Will it be useful if I put these URLs in twitter? Marina,

You can go for Twitter but remember you should keep your profile in public to be indexed rapidly rather you should go for Bookmarking and Digg for fast response. Google caffeine search engine algorithm taking some results from twitter and some other social media sites. Yes Twitter is definitely helpful for you, use facebook, myspace also. yes you can use the Twitter Application. But do one thing more that you can submit the XML sitemap of the website to Google search engine with the help of Webmaster Tool Account. And considering most urls are make into tinyurls, it's not a direct link either. twitteer is helpful to increse viitiors it's microbloging site In my own experiences, for homepage, it is true but not for other pages on your sites. They would all be shorten before being submitted.

Twitter links have no follow attitude on them, get links from related sites I definitely agree that twitter and other social networking sites can be indexed by Google. Also consult an SEO specialist. If your Twitter updates are public, and you post a link, the search engines will hit through the link to whatever site it is.

I used to get massive search engine hits whenever I posted an update on my Twitter linking to my latest blog post.

I know this because I used the WP-UserOnline plugin for Wordpress which shows who/what is visiting my site. Your page will be index faster if you ping your site plus submit it in other social bookmarking sites.
