This is a very simple project idea, with many similar sytems already existing.BibTeX is a popular format for storing references to research_ books, articles, journals etc. Please see LaTex Users Manual for other set types of research_along with a say a URL to where the paper may be found. BibTeX, a flat file format stores these references. Using this as a guide, generate an XML DTD_ Document Type Definition_ for the types of research. Secondly, the BiBTeX file storing references must also be stored in an XML format. This must be done by converting the references stored in BibTeX_flat file format_to references stored in XML by making a small JAVA program _or other, please specify, e.g Pearl_ to convert between the two formats.This should be achieved WITHOUT the use of ANY tools such as XML Convert or similar.Basically be able to convert from XML to BibTeX and vice versa. Once a number of publication references have been entered into the database, the software must use XSLT to allow the database to be searchable/browsable by various fields such as DATE, AUTHOR,KEYWORD etc.In most cases the paper themselves are in electronic _PDF,Postscript,HTML,Word_ format. The papers may either be stored locally or remotely.So searching/browsing the collection should result in a URL pointing to the appropriate papers. The output must be in HTML format_using XSL stylesheets to transform from XML to HTML_ for publishing on the web, with all font conventions taken care of, or navigating using a browser, or in BiBTeX_ so that you can include it in a tex file_. Next, it must be made possible for the user to create and manipulate (")folders(") of papers that are related to their current research. Also, make it easy for user to add or remove items from the collection, such as add references in XML or BibTex format. Platform: Needs to work on Windows 95 onwards. Any use of Java _JDK 1.2 or above_ whould be no problem as that is platform-independent. Browser using IE4 and above.
