Will anything happen if I change to PHP5

Some mods require PHP5, and I checked my forum and it's on PHP4. I have to option to switch it from 4 to 5. My question is, will anything happen if I switch it in my host's control panel. I'm afraid that the forum will stop working or something. Can I please get an answer only if you are sure, thanks.
