Hi Everyone,Please help me with my site. I submitted it to Google in November and when it wasn't responding to queries after three months I redid the navigation hoping that it would help my case. Google sees it if I search for my web but not if I do a general search using key words. After reading some of the other posts where you have helped others I am now understanding the importance of backlinks/traffic etc. So I'm going to address those problems as a separate issue. I'm just worried that there are some fundamental things that I have done or not done in the code that is influencing the problem. My site is http://www.somerville-creativity.comThanks in advance.Your site is indexed, so Google is seeing it. The problem is that you have to go through the whole SEO process. You need to do keyword research, optimize pages, do link and directory work and more. This is nothing someone can just answer. I would start doing some research on this forum and then ask specific questions about problems you might be having.Godd luck and welcome to the forum.Submit to directories, do link exchanges, get links from authoritative sites, do social networking. These will help build back links, which will increase your visibility in google. Thanks vetofunk and factoring for answering my question. I am so grateful for your time. At least I now know that it is a question of doing the things that you are talking about and not a technical problem within the code itself. Now I will focus my time on the things such as backlinks etc. Thanks once again.Just some feedback chaps.I was about to throw in the towel with the SEO story as I told you but I started doing some of the things you spoke about. I saw that the Googlebot had visited my site yesterday (through my stats) and bingo I had jumped more than a thousand places (I wasn't even featuring in the top 1000 places). What a struggle, but at least there is some movement - it now gives me some hope. Thanks for the help and encouragement.Google knows your site is there. It sees 8 pages:http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3As ... en___GB213However if you want to rank for certain terms then you must give Google a reason to rank you highly.Google looks at natural factors that make a site relevant to what people search for. These take the form of the content on the page as well as the links to your site and where these links come from.Google doesn't reveal who links to you properly. But you can see it in Yahoo:http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/se ... =seo-rd-seYou have one person linking to you.If you think for some reason that Google should list you higher in the results just because you email them and say so then think about it from Google's perspective.Google has billions of web pages in its index and uses various calculations to decide which pages are most important and ranks these higher. If you want to rank higher make your site more important and useful. For example you could add a blog which offers advice, give away free templates etc. Then start letting people know about it (directory submission, press releases, social bookmarking, emailing webmasters that might be interested if you create something cool).Hope that helps Get LINKS...LINKS....LINKS. That's it for Google.inbound links are very important in the SEO process. I have used http://www.linkmarket.net/ to get more inbound links for free. This site has all of the member sites categorized so you can choose to exchange links only with sites that have similar content with you. (NOTE TO MODERATOR: I have no affiliation with linkmarket.net and gain nothing by recommending the site.) One important thing to avoid when looking for inbound links is to avoid link farms (websites that are just lists of links). These can actually hurt your search engine ranking. Try to look for sites that are in the same category as yours and and requesting a link exchange. Also if there are more than 20 links on the link page there is very little SERP (search engine result positioning) gain from having a link on the page; So try to get links from quality sites that have only a few links on each link page.you have set this type of url without using www in google sitemap tool at http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/Thanks to to all for your very helpful advice. I'm going to try to implement the various suggestions. This kind of advice is what makes this such a great forum.
