Why can't i remove certain icons from my desktop?

I installed Sony Ericsson software for my phone which has a file manager but for some reason i cant get the icon off my desktop,does anyone know how i do this?<br />
I still want to use the software!<br />
The icon just stays there when i try to move or send to the bin!<br />
Please people,i am not computer illiterate,i have tried all the obvious things,it just wont go!<br />

I had the simular problem but if you know that software, type it in and search for it and then try deleting it but it will possibly delete the whole thing.

Try uninstalling the software and reinstall then uncheck place icons on desktop and thats it

you can,t get our sony to go.
try ~go into "search all files"
when it brings up all or any sony files delete them from there.
sometimes sony will ~ create a new file on desk top ~name it fred (your choice )put sony in it then delete fred.

try restarting in safe mode (f8) and then take it out

right click on the icon this should bring a list with delete showing click on delete, this gets rid of the icon but doesn't uninstall the programme
