My son wants to learn CSS and wanted to know which spec to read at the W3C website. At first I told him to just look at the 2.1 spec. Is there any reason to read the 1.0?2.1 should be fine. Maybe look at 1.0 some day if he wants some historical perspective. 
Well CSS 2.1 is at the same stage as CSS 2.0 but most browsers have issues with CSS 2 anyway so CSS 1.0 is safest bet but outdated.
