I observe every time that almost every SEOs and webmasters are just trying to increase their website's PageRank because they think that PageRank is the only way for their website's good reputation to the people. Why they don't think that there are other factors exist to improve their website's performance such as conversion rate, clickthrough rate and bounce rate. Then when will they start to think beyond PageRank??? Actually I think a lot of webmasters do think beyond page rank. They are just not the ones in the forums complaining about page rank. Quote: When will webmasters think beyond PageRank It's a bar that moved....humans have always been intrigued with those kinda things.
Some are still not thinking beyond stuffing the keyword tag or repeating the keywords over and over. Page Ranks is always on everyone's minds but most of my clients have no idea about google page rank. In fact the only ones that know about it are the ones working in SEO for the site. I think page rank is important to do well in the serps but it is also just a very small piece of the puzzle. SEO people = page rank
SEM people = conversion rate, click through rate, etc.
Webmasters = both!

I think a lot of it has to do with the website owner, and their ability to promote their site and create content. If someone is creative, has the ability to create content, their worried about other things besides page rank.
People that do not want to take the time to create content, they just want to push their site to the top of the rankings without actually doing anything. Because they don't follow Google blogs nor do they listen to what is posted on them.
Quote: ...Even the most inexperienced site owners I talk with have often heard about, and want to know more about, PageRank (“PR”) and what it means for their site. However, as I said in my fateful forum post, the Webmaster Central team has been telling webmasters for years that they shouldn't focus so much on PageRank as a metric for representing the success of one’s website. Today I’d like to explain this position in more detail and give you some relevant, actionable options to fill your time once you stop tracking your PR!...
...The focus on PageRank as a success metric only works if you assume that a higher PageRank results in better ranking, then assume that that will drive more traffic to your site, then assume that that will lead to more people doing-whatever-you-want-them-to-do on your site. On top of these assumptions, remember that we only update the PageRank displayed on the Google Toolbar a few times a year, and we may lower the PageRank displayed for some sites if we believe they’re engaging in spammy practices. So the PR you see publicly is different from the number our algorithm actually uses for ranking. Why bother with a number that’s at best three steps removed from your actual goal, when you could instead directly measure what you want to achieve? Finding metrics that are directly related to your business goals allows you to spend your time furthering those goals....
SEO Tip of the Day: Saturday, July 2, 2011 - Beyond PageRank I dont think webmasters are only concerned about the pagerank. I always prefer to work on conversion rates and quality content rather than pr.
