Poll is only for posters who have a website with PR > 0. How long did it take you to get your PR 1 or more, and what do you think was the most important thing you did to achieve it.This is not a thread for bashing the importance (or not) of PR The PR on my directory is 0 because it has never seen a pr update before. Im predicting it will go straight to 3 0r 4 on the next update (which may be this week).PR should get out of zero on the first update it sees really, if you have been working on building backlinks.Backlinks are the only cause of PR.The more backlinks from related high PR sites the better your PR will be.OK as I am only now really looking into SEO, I have what many may construe as being silly questions but anyway I have to ask:1. You mention that your PR may get updated this week. How do you know that it will happen, is it run on a pre-determined schedule for all sites?2. What exactly is a backlink and how does Google (or any SE) determine how many you have? My guess is that a backlink is a link TO my website FROM a website that I CURRENTLY link to? And therefore if I link TO a website and that website does NOT LINK to mine (or vice-versa) that is not considered a backlink? There is no set time when PR updates happen, but they are usually quaterly and usually happen a short time after a backlink update. So people generally know about what time there should be one.A backlink is a link from one site, to your site. It kinda counts as a vote for your site.Backlinks from a site with high PR and related content are better than links from low PR sites with unrelated content. The best backlinks are one way (when a site links to you but you dont link to them). When two sites link to each other it's called a reciprocol link, these are not worth as much as a one way link because google thinks that the two sites have come to an agreement about linking to each other. You can see some of the sites that link to you by googlin link:www.yourdomain.comCheers meman.Do SEs count this as a link?Code: [ Select ]They only count links that are clickable and dirrect links.so only Code: [ Select ]
