Hey Guys and Gals,Should i be worried if after optimising some of my pages, google drops me 2 positions?Or is this expected movement? Or did I over optimise my pages?Or if my pages were over optimised would my listing drop down seriously more than that?Appreciate any feedback.RichMinor fluctuations are normal and even expected....As competitor's links and pages are crawled the SERPs will change slightly. Then when your pages and links are crawled they could return to their previous position. What you should be looking at is the longer term direction. If yhey keep dropping from week to week then something needs to be corrected. Otherwise leave things alone. There will always be fluncutations in Google and other search engines, no need to worry, just keep adding fresh content to your pages and you should be ok.As people have indicated, fluctuations are normal - however, you can't be sure if your tweaks had a negative affect, or those of your competing sites had a negative affect - I'd suggest taking HTML snapshots of BOTH your site and your competitors if you want to get a better picture of what actually changed. The biggest mistake NEW webmasters make is to track rankings on a daily basis.... sometimes even more frequently. You should only be concerned with longer term TRENDS. If you are NOT already in the top 10 results, check about once a month to see which direction you are moving. First page positions tend to be a little more competitive so you might like to check twice monthly.Of course this could change around major updates ... like now
