Hi friends,

I am working on my client's site since two years. They always have the same demand that is how to get more visibility in Search Engines(we seo people say it SERP) and targeted traffic to their site. I go for certain SEO and SMO steps for ranking their sites.

Certain SEO steps like oneway link building(directory submissions, article submissions, bookmarking, press releases), Reciprocal link building(two-way and three-way), creating blogs, participating in forums etc. Also creating local listings for their sites like in Google and Yahoo. Promoting those in many local yellow pages also. Also I am optimising the sites with onpage optimisation steps.

After this I am working in many SMO steps. Like twitter, stumble, facebook, linkedin in many major social networking sites where I am working. Linking to each other's profile. Creating groups and engaging people. But some times I am feeling that my site is not getting the targeted traffic, my time is wasted with this.

Really I am discouraged with this traditional ways now. Finding a new concept. Any other ways will be there to promote websites? Any new concepts will be there in next years? Search engines will change their criteria to rank a website? They more than probably will continue what they are doing right now, giving websites according to the links they have because it is a logical phenomenon and a measure of popularity and positions you know. The number and quality of backlinks would still remain very important because they would be the online votes counted by the search engines but one thing is certain and that is due to the loads of new websites added to the internet world, competition would get hotter, tougher and more complex. IMO, SEO will be more advance and there are other strategies that will evolve and will adopt the modern era of promoting one site to get the targeted rank in the search engine. yaa that's right i'm agree with you but see all person can doing marketing not only you if all get ranking and traffic so how can google gives result. if you website have small mistake check it and solve it after you can get fast result I feel traditional SEO strategies are not going to be effective in the mid to long term future. IBLs will probably still be important, but to a lesser degree and the on page methods that are in practice today will probably have no effect.

I think social media is going to be big, in times to come webmasters may not rely on Search Engines to the extent that they do today and a lot of traffic may come through sites like Facebook and Twitter.
