I have heard that blog comments show no more improvement in serp's so I was wondering if blog comments don't then what else.
Please let me know on which type of links should I focus for effective results.... If I understood well, your talking of no follow blogs' comments. Not all the blogs have this faction, there are many which allow back links.
To answer your question, some other ways to get back links are:
Article submitting
Social Bookmark
Advertising But as i know blog comments can help your ranking if you get backlinks and comment on quality blogs. Blog commenting, article submission, social bookmarking are the most common ways for making backlinks and each of these ways can help your ranking if you choose quality ones of them. Blog comments from high PR sites can be countable in search engines. blog commenting is still a good source of backlinks. Just try to comment on high PR, do follow related blogs. When i say high pr, its the page where you will put your link and not the homepage pr. Aside from blog commenting, the usual ways of promotion is still working like, forum signatures, article submission, classified ads, directory submission, link wheels, etc... I still believe that blog comments are good source of backlinks, especially if you post on dofollow blogs with high PR. Just make sure to post only quality comments and post only to blogs that are related to your site. I don't think blog comments help, cuz most of the links are nofollow. Directory submission site can help improve your SERPs, you could also try Bookmarking services, such as socialbookmarkingservice.com or manualbookmarking.com to name a few... Your best links will be editorial in style... meaning someone linked to you from the body text of a blog, article, press release, etc. The value of the link diminishes as you move away from that area for instance into the comments, an author box or sidebar. That's not to say those aren't valuable links, because they are.

Also, links in dofollow blogs and forums are great too and are more easily obtained. blog commenting still works as long as its do follow or if your comment is approved by the moderator/author.

you could still earn good back links on social bookmarking and do follow forum posts Quote: Originally Posted by daisy414 I have heard that blog comments show no more improvement in serp's so I was wondering if blog comments don't then what else. In my opinion blog comments (not spam) on reputed HighPR sites with do follow backlinks are the good source of quality backlinks to your site and hence improve your ranking in SERP. Look for some dofollow blogs, comment related to the post there without using bad seo practices ( keywords in Name field).

Apart from blog commenting, participate in forums and give valuable inputs.
