what is the difference between local site optimization and global site optimization. Because I am working in India and presently working only on Indian sites. But now I have got two new assignments one from USA and And from Sri Lanka's site. How should I optimize these two sites. Global optimization uses the all the general SEO techniques discussed throughout this forum. Whereas the local optimization requires little effort in terms of on page optimization where you need to add Google map, local address and phone numbers for the site plus need to work on the off page techniques. Now I m doing all off-page activities like blog commenting, forum participation, blog posting, web 2.0 posting, directory, article, social bookmarking, individual pages, and other things like googl-map, classified adds for local optimization, and I want to know in case of global site optimization. As ipexpert said Global optimization is the way to optimize your site in all over the world while local optimization constitutes mainly on a local area generally the hosted country of the site. Local optimization needs more exposure and it involves the usage of local sites and portals.. Basically when i am optimizing a site that is targeting a local demographic i concentrate on not only optimizing the site for my target key word but for the location it is in. So for example if i want to get found for "car services" in Chicago, I want to have a keyword density of around 3-5% for your Chicago that way when they search Chicago car services i get found!

[removed] This certainly depends on the niche of the website, for example you don't want a site with local Sri lankan directory to list in France. Ideally, have local site optimization if your site caters to the needs of local people, that way you would be get the advantage over your opponents if your website however caters an international audience global site optimization is a must. I repeat, look at your niche and the origination of traffic. Targeting both local and global audience with same website is little difficult. You need to get different domain for global audience.

If your client wants to promote his service in Sri Lanks / USA only then you really need to optimize the website for global audience

Tips for local optimization,
- Get a country specific domain
- Submit your website to local search engines
- Submit your website to local directories
- Get backlinks from target country
- Get listed on local classified websites
- Try to get citations
