can i know what is meant by canonical url and how does it works?
If there are multiple url for a site, then what does canonical url do? when you buy a domain name for eg:
abc.com your website actual url will be http://abc.com
you can also configure http://www.abc.com
both www and without www are two separate URL's, Search Engine consider them two links. So people choose either www or non www.
non www is modern way while www is old. www is also a waste of URL space but practically they are equal in terms of SEO.
Canonical URL is automatically redirect from one to onther, I like www because most people type www in URL & it looks good when written on your visiting card.
Canonical URL tells google spider about www or non-www version of your website so you don't get page not found errors. simply, canonical url is the url you want your visitors to see.. also, it means having your url into its simplest form. remember that your canonical url is the most significant url you want to be seen by the visitors.
