What if i change my forum's database password from my hosting account , and modify it in config.php , would this be ok .. or i have to go through certain steps , or i shouldn't do it ? .

it should be ok just make sure you do everything correctlly, first run a db backup, just to be safe, the change the p/w to your db, then in config
