Our organic search visits for our website dropped big number. At first Ive looked into its connection with googles recent change of algo but our stats shows that we have recovered from the drop from googles algo change recently and now our organic search visits dropped again.
Can anyone point out possible culprit to any possible drop of organic search visits for any site? Any thoughts and info will be appreciated. Thanks are you telling me that you have just recovered from the algo change effect? you should give them some time to correct all the problems. have you checked the keyword search result? is it similar to the previous results? Yes, same keyword search results. For the google algo change I think yes cause ive seen our organic traffic dropped back then and recovered from it and its back down again 3-4 weeks ago until now.
Do you also think that any onpage changes might cause this? What kind of onpage methods can usually affect a drop of traffic? Any thoughts about that? of course on page can effect. but not in a large extinct for a established site. but you can double check your changes/ new SEO tactics. you are facing this for about one week so its important now. check for any unethical change, links broken etc.
thanks After the first update, google tweaked to go after long tail keyword results. I've seen the same drop, then recovery, and subsequent drop on my own site. I know in my case, it has nothing to do with duplicate or scraped content. I have visitor submitted content that is thin and I have to go back and try to add more content to those pages. at times this is temporary in effect to a change in algorithm. however, you should see what search terms that you have recently dropped the rank for, and analyse accordingly. If your traffic dropped, then check your site's keyword ranking. See if there are any changes in the ranks of your keywords. Wow anything can effect this. Some things: your loss of links (good reason to gr long term links that will stick), competitors doing more, change in google algorithm, not updating content, and just so many things. Basically if you just keep creating unique content that is really good and update frequently and build links consistently you shouldn't drop - at least not much. thanks for the response, yes there's really lots of things that can be the cause of the traffic drop and Im beginning to get curious on Amazon.com because my colleagues and I launched a web store in amazon bearing our sites logo and has a link to our site with the same products in our site also, I noticed that the moment we launched our campaign in amazon thats when our organic traffic dropped.
Could it be that amazon has something to do with it? Can anybody give some thoughts about this? It could be a few things:
- Your competitors have more quality backlinks therefore they are ranking higher then you in search engines.
- Your not updating your site with fresh new content, and have good on-page SEO.
- Your site might be penalized by google. You may have lost your links this might be resoane for your drop in organic result. Thanks If you are saying that you have already checked all your ranking for your top keywords and it is still the same, then it could be as others have stated that you have lost many long tail keywords that you were not aware of.
Alternatively it could be that your title and description have changed in the serps and it is less enticing for searchers. Did the traffic coming directly from google searches drop?
Or your traffic in general?
You need to find out where the loss is coming from.
Check your google analytics or other analytic program.
If you lost traffic coming from different sites then it could be that those sites have been hit hard by the panda update and have less visitors, so less visitors are there to click on your link.
If it's from google, but your ranking is the same, then check your ranking a couple times a day. Not by using google webmaster tools or something like that, but by actually searching yourself.
I personally and some other people are experiencing fluctuating rankings through-out the day. 10 o'clock my site is nowhere to be found. 15 o'clock it's back on page one. According to me you are not having a good quality content and title, your competitor is having a more quality back links, they are have higher ranking on search engines, you are not have to good web sites also.
