I cannot recommend any CSS books because most are out dated or inaccurate and I don't know what learning style you like to follow.

Though Eric Meyer is one of the few that many recommend. For general design concepts and techniques you can't beat "designing with web standards" by Jeffery Zeldman (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.zeldman.com/">http://www.zeldman.com/</a><!-- m -->). No, it's not a CSS reference but that part's easy, knowing what to do isn't.Originally posted by ray326

I second that. It's an excellent book. Read it. Or perish. In terms of learning CSS 2 though, D.W.W.S. isn't really the book to be using. If you already have the concepts and whatnot of CSS 1 down, then looking into CSS 2 won't be that hard. If you are just looking into CSS, then D.W.W.S. becomes a better resource, but again, it is more of a general book on web design versus a pure CSS book. You might want to look into HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables. The title is slightly misleading in that it won't really show a table based layout and then how to convert it over, but it's more of a general book on CSS, and it was released in May of 2003, so it's current. You can also find chapter examples on the site for the book.

Chris SharkeySurely <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/">http://www.amazon.co.uk/</a><!-- m --> would have it!quick reference guides are very helpful for small problems and queries.

it might be useful to pick one up!Is this a good book for learning css? (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/css/">http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/css/</a><!-- m -->) . Thanks!I've not read it, but if it's by Eric Meyer, it can't be too bad. lol...lol...thanksOriginally posted by AnacondaAndy
Is this a good book for learning css? (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/css/">http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/css/</a><!-- m -->) . Thanks! It's an excellent reference but it's often considered a perfect companion to Zeldman's book since the latter get's more into the WHAT and WHY where Meyer is the HOW.My only issue with the book is that it really needs a new edition to the book because it's showing it's age.Meyer is the HOW.

That is what I want! hehe...I see waldenbooks.com (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.waldenbooks.com">http://www.waldenbooks.com</a><!-- m -->) (do a search for isbn 0735712018) has a package deal where you get D.W.W.S with another book called "Eric Meyer on CSS" for $56 + Tax & S&H. Although touted as for someone who already knows CSS, sounds like a few beginners found it good. Also, it was published in 2002 so it would be abit more recent.

Just trying to help as I need to buy D.W.W.S and and a CSS to learn as well.

Also, I found that there will be a 2nd edition printing of CSS:The Definative guide by Eric Meyer. The site I visited said Jan 1, 2004, but is still in the pre-order phase (great if you need D.W.W.S first). Search at your favorite book store by isbn 0596005253. It has the same picture on the front, so don't be confused.
