i apoligise for the vague subject title, and also that this is probably in the wrong section. Couldn't quite decide where to put it.
I put together a website for scottish punk rock bands, it is fairly simple but very time consuming to update the various pages and the like.
So i'm putting together a new one where i want the various bands to be able to update their own information and importantly upload their own mp3s. The website will also have forums, so i'd be hoping that the bands log in details could be the same for both updating and being on the forums. same does for the people Download ing the music.
Been looking at various forums with portal hacks like ipb and phpbb. can't seem to get my head round anything. I'm not asking anyone to design a site for me, just maybe a few ideas on the best way to achieve what i'm trying to do.
Thanks in advance.invision power board and phpBB are PHP scripts, to be able to use them, your server needs to support PHP. So this is more like a serverside question, but no panic...
phpBB is good for forums (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.phpbb.com/">http://www.phpbb.com/</a><!-- m -->) and here is a good tutorial for setting up an admin interface:

I'll give them tutorials a bash. The best way i can describe what i want my site to be like is somethign similar to mp3.com, but obvioulsy not on such a large scale. Hopefully i'll get there.
