Hi again-

So after validating my page, as you know, they give you that ugly little image to place on your page. Well, the colors clash with my site and I'm wondering if you think it would be okay to alter the colors (not the shape/layout)? I tried finding a contacting link for them, but to no advantage.

And you Opion is?

Thanks,
:DI say now, its there image. If you really need to just use a text link. Are you sure that this doesn't belong in the "Legal Issues" forum. W3C's probably gone to alot of work designing their logos and you want to deface them? Does the INTEL INSIDE logo clash with your furniture also?
Just use a text link.
LOL LOL ;)I like the Intel Inside logo design and I didn't proceed to change the color scheme of it. I just bought all new furniture. =:O

Anyway, Finally found this page, http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/logo-usage-20000308 which talks about W3C icon usage, but I also sent them an e-mail and as soon as I get a reply, I will post it.
:DThese two items:

You may only post the graphic found at http://www.w3.org/Icons/WWW/w3c_home.
and
The icon must stand alone: it cannot be combined with any other design element such as photography, type, borders, nor can it be incorporated into another logo.

RE: First point: I guess if you change the colour, then it's no longer "the graphic found at" that location.
RE: Second point: The phrase "changing the colour to combine it with another design element" probably covers them, as they aren't concerned with it clashing with anything.

I know that in my company, there are specific rules as to how the logo and literature is to be displayed (colours, typeface, etc.). We are never to vilate that policy. Gotta keep the lawyers busy, I guess. ;)I don't think that you will be allowed to. As Android says you can only use them images.

Also there might a copyright section saying that you must present W3 Images as you see them. Why not send them an email. If you look [here] (http://www.phpalien.net/) then this webmaster has either made their own or changed the colours, check it out.I have written them an e-mail and am still waiting for a response.
:DYou can always make your own logo. As long as you don't put the letters W3C in the image, just put something like "Valid HTML" then you will be OK.
