Vbulletin Vs Wordpress - Security Flaws - How to avoid

I had a weird experience with wordpress installation as it was infected with trojan. All my index.php and index.html files were inserted with a encoded text. I also saw some huge texts written into my cgi-bin directory. Also when I opened my site I used to get trojan alert from my NAV. Moreover after a while the site used to refresh itself and redirect me to some other sites such as cherry.tv. I was stunned to see how this can happen on a unix host. My wordpress site at :: fullSAP :: SAP Technology Mega Forum went for a toss and I had to migrate the website to vbulletin. All my hardwork on the initial wordpress blog is gone. Initially i thought vbulletin is only for discussion and there is not much scope for addons and extending the capabilities as in wordpress. Only when I started using Vbulletin I came to know that there are hell number of mods available to extend the capabilities of the forum. I like vbulletin and stick to it for all my other sites as well.

I guess I had the weird experience with wordpress because of the security flaws in the software. Anyone have any suggestion how best to avoid such things when using Vbulletin.

Avoid using shitty nulls & download wordpress from the official site and you won't have a problem
