I have had numerous issues with vBSEO before however today I decided to give it another shot and install it. I installed everything fine up till the point of the .htaccess folder. I added the htaccess.txt to the forum root, and than the htaccess folder to the root directory, and renamed it to .htaccess but this causes my forum to not work (says that the path is forbidden). Any idea how I can fix this? Thanks.

Not sure I understand what you did re: .htaccess. If I'm reading right, you uploaded the entire htaccess folder? The renamed the folder to .htaccess? Not necessary to upload the folder, just the .htaccess file by itself.
Are you running any kind of CMS i.e. VBAdvanced, VBCMPS, anything like that?
Which copy of VBSEO here did you download? There are several here, and one in particular seems to be problem plagued.

In the admincp -> Site Name/URL/Contact Details -> Forum URL, if you have http://www.yoursite.com/forums.php, remove the /forums.php and see if that does anything.
