vb 3.8.0 not recognizing read posts

For some reason vb is not recognizing that I have read posts. It is making me back out of each sub-forum back to the main forum before it recognizes it.

what do I do?

Could you explain more?
 
I make a post in a thread, click on the link to go back to the index, and it marks the post that I just made as unread.. The only way to clear it is to go through the sub-forums back to the index page ex. sf>sf>sf>index is the only way to mark it as read.
 
AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> General Settings -> Thread/Forum Read Marking Type -> click Database (automatic forum marking) and Save
