Is PR only affected by having a link to your site from another page with a high PR? Or is also tied into the amount of times some one comes to your page from that link? Basically I am asking whether it's worth my time put my link on a site where the links page is not easy to find?As far as I'm aware, PR is purely based on the amount of pages google knows about that link to the page in question, and the PR of those pages. What human visitors do plays no part - as far as I know. But, even if human visitors can't see those links easily, Google can, and that's the whole point of having your link all over an external site. So that Google sees it and ranks your PR accordingly. The higher your PR, the more likely you are to be higher up in searches. Which is where most people will find you, no matter how many links you have on external pages. So, if it's just one link on one low PR page, it's your call - it won't make much difference to Google one way or the other. If it's somebody with even a low PR like 2/10, if they're putting a link in the footer of their 5,000 page site then go for it. Even if humans don't see it, Google will.Even with a PR of 0/10, that can also mean they're simply unranked as of yet and Google hasn't gotten to them - but when Google spiders that whole site the first time, your links are gonna be ready and waiting. So on a large site, I'd always go for it, even if not easily readable to humans. On a single page on a small site, it depends on the site and whether I like it or not - of course, if users on my site want to add a link to their websites, then I don't object, but I wouldn't do a link exchange unless there was truly something of value on their site.thanks. I just wanted to make sure I'm not wasting my time. The best place to have a link is on a page with very few links. I would much rather be on a PR5 site with 10 links than a PR6 site with 500 links. I always do this with directories, especially DMOZ, I look for the best category and then the one with the least amount of links with the highest PR.Yes, it is best to find sites with high PR, but smaller PR sites are easier to find and they can add up. When you look at the backlink tool for Google, it will only show PR4+ sites linking to you, so you may have more, you just won't be able to see them.Really? Google only shows PR4+ sites in the backlinks? I never realised that before. Is there a way to force it to show the <PR4 sites too?I don't know anyway of getting Google to show less than PR4 sites. What I use is Alexa's tool bar. It shows you a great deal about any site including every single site that links to it.neat...Man, I've been waiting 6 weeks now for my one new site to get Index'd. It's got 4 sites, each with 1,000-5,000 pages, linking to it. It shows up in searches, but no PR yet, and not showing a single backlink (and all of those 4 sites have at least 500 pages each rating 4/10 or higher).I have also been waiting a few months for a few of my sites backlinks to be updated. I think they are just being delayed right now/you can see all links by searching for domain +.comAnd google has no way of knowing what user interaction there is on links on remote websites. So the number of people clicking links does not play into the equation at all.each page that links to you without you passing a link back leaks a tiny bit of PR to your website. As far as PR doing much for your rankings in the SERP's, It has been estimated by several people i hold in high regard that it is 5% or less of the rank. Anchor text in Inbound Links "IBL's" holds a much higher value in the rankings. How exactly would you go about putting your keywords in to anchor text for IBLs. If a targeted keyword is not the name of your site, what is a practical way of making the link help your search results?"Each page that links to you without you passing a link back leaks a tiny bit of PR to your website."- You can still do a reciprocal link, but there is a good way to do them. I read the theory on the formula of Pagerank. Here's just a few tips. You want all the Pagerank you can to come to your homepage. This way it is spread throughout your entire site. When doing a reciprocal link to the other site, you want it on a page that is very far down in the navigation of your site, lowest PR. You also want as many links on this page going to your own site, so when the PR is divided up, you have as little PR as you can leaking to that reciprocal linked site.As far as your anchor text to be used in the links, use keywords associated with your site. You can see all the anchor text in the links at the bottom of all the pages in ozzu.com, this should give you an idea.Yup! In case you were wondering why this site advertises generic viagra...that's why Just wanted add my 2 cent. Wondering food 1. As for the linking from 5000 pages to your site - if those links directed only to you - that's pretty good, but if you do similar reciprocation back - seams like Google ignores those links. Also Google lowered value of reciprocal links since Florida Update big time.2. Keep in mind that higher PR doesn't give you higher positioning automatically - there are so many sites out there with artificially boosted PR, but not ranking anywhere on their main keyphrases. This is the main reason why Google lowered reciprocal links value - too many people are taking advantage of it. Originally it bases on pure logic - people will link to good resources. Now, people link just because of PR.3. My site lost PR from 5 to 4 right now and I have around ~2300 total backlinks by MarketLeap.com - my worst competitor has 9000 links. We have only 33 links bein seen by Google - they have 105. Their backlinks fluctuating from 9K to 12K - they're using footer reciprovation technique with 12 different sites. Their PR is 5 right now - was 6. They moved up pretty close to me, but we were and still are unbitten for the last 6 months at least. I have a little thought somewhere on the bottom of my brain that they can take our first spots, but I don't really worry about it.4. My friend did the same reciprocation as my competitor with the same sites two months ago - he lost up to 4 positions on his main keyphrases, but his PR went up +2. He had 11K backlinks to him (I was amazed) In a week he deleted all the crosslinkings and he got back to the same ranking - PR went down back to 4 and traffic numbers raised back.5. As for Google showing only PR4+ backlinks - it was for a while, but it wasn't the same for last 3 or 4 months - I saw all kinds of PR for backlinks google was showing - it was very unusual I couldn't understand why it doesn't show all of the links because PR seamed hasn't been limited anymore... well, right now I have one backlinks shown by google with PR3.Here is some infohttp://www.iprospect.com/freeinfo/LinkE ... lained.pdfI found it pretty interesting - explains a bit about Hub and Authority pages linking and some Search Engine background which made me think about other SEs. May be somebody will find it helpful.I would make a few suggestions - don't link just because somebody wants to exchange links with you - look at the resource - do you really find it helpful and with a good content? If not - forget about the PR. Good content will always find their link partners. Think about the point of Search Engines and what they are competing for? For the most relevant results! Don't go for the short run (unles you have viagra site) - google will tweak their algo as long as it will take to keep it the best and most relevant. So make your sites for your visitors and read the search engines guide lines Thanks. With Authority Sites, I completely agree. Teoma is one search engine that has used this kind of technology for a while. With backlinks, if someone has 11k of backlinks, and is not a some huge corporate site, you know they are artificial. I get great positioning on many of my sites and only have 200 - 300 backlinks usually. On some, I have a great deal less. What does this mean?...content is king! When you go looking for backlinks, make sure they are from sites having something to do with yours. Also do not have all the same text in the anchor tags for these links will help. It shows that they might not be all artificial.Just my opinion.Completely agree.I actually read somewhere a great article that was describing a simple linking campaign. They were recommending to get links from 10 good relative content sites with one main keyphrase in your link title (anchor text), and 10 links with another keyphrase and so on...
