URL redirect

I have a forum which can be visited by "www.mydomain.com/forum". Now I want to buy another domain "forumdomain.com" and redirect "www.forumdomain.com" to "www.mydomain.com/forum". So the others can visit our forum using "www.mydomain.com/forum" or "www.forumdomain.com".My quesiton is:Will it be punished by GoogleBot?Is 301 redirect ok for us? I did a 301 a few weeks ago, and I've been out of the SERPs for the last two weeks. According to Google though the process take about 6-8 weeks... so you might want to consider this when you plan to do it.
