URL format for Backlinking

just want to know what's your preference in url format for backlinking

thanks Which way is your site setup? If one can access the with www version and the without www version then you need to fix this by selecting one version and 301 permanent redirecting the other version to it.

thanks This really is just a preference, however which ever one you choose should be the one you build links to...

if you have the www.domain.com be sure to build all your links with the www. in it. I always URL rewrite in my web.config files to add the "www" and backslash, so I use http://www. domain .com/ but I am not in control how others link to my site (hence the rewrite rule). I prefer with the 'www' to ensure the link work properly. Link with no 'www' often can't be opened. The preference should be given to the URL which you can see in the web browser address bar when you visit your website. A trailing slash doesn't matter. With or without it.

Using www or not depends on whether my site uses the www subdomain or not. If you visit my site and it stays as http://domain.com on the address bar then that's the URL I will use for all of my backlinking efforts. Technically either way should work but for SEO you should pick one version and 301 redirect the other version to it.
