underlining too close

does anyone know how to get rid of underlining which is too close up against the word. seems to be a problem if you use style tags inline:

<A HREF=http://www.htmlforums.com/archive/index.php/"newsletter.html" STYLE="text-decoration: underline;">Newsletter info

need to use like this as it's in a table where the CSS has turned off underlining....

any solutions
esl-lounge.comnot sure I understand. the underline is to close up against the word??? do you have a link or some more code for us to look at?at least when I look at this:

http://www.esl-lounge.com/newlook-top.html

the underlining of Newsletter Info below the navigation bar is too close and not a millimetre or so below as with normal links.
esl-lounge.comlooks the same to me. all the links are the same when the line goes underneath them. there is no way to control the positioning of the line.look at the screenshot, the underline is bang up against the word on the newsletter link but not on the link in the footer...why the difference. Both are in table cells with class names controlled off a global style sheet. Normally, underlines have 1/2 mm gap. I know it's picky but I would like to know what causes it.
esl-lounge.comWhat browser on what platform are you using? I am using IE6 and I am not getting that problem. All of the underlining I see has the gap.

Doog Xelayes I don't get it either. here is a screen shot to prove it. I also am on IE6

could it be your settings for the font tha tthe browser loads?strange strange strange!!!

I have IE5 on Win98 but my girlfriend who is pickier than me saw the problem on Win2000 on IE6. We are both here in Italy so maybe it's a Windows Italy problem!

OK, I am not going to worry about such a piffling thing any more.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help out.
