What is the latest trends in the link advertisement on the site ? on this site or all sites in general? i think that Link Wheel strategy will work properly in latest trend because it's prven result I never believed in link wheel so I don't use it as my strategy. I believe in link barn. It gets the longest tail keywords, especially when you are riding for a really long term. long tail keywords are really very beneficial Right, partial answers here so far.

Go up trends in link building: in-content links, anchor-relevant internal linking, press-releases, SB (bookmarking) from old accounts.
Go down: link wheels, blog posts, directories, articles submissions, blogrolls
Does not work: link farms, link exchange
All above - IMHO I am not sure I understand your question... Are you referring to this site or to your site? Now, as far as what others have recommended like linkwheel, NEVER ever use that method. Linkwheel can work initially but it will catch up to you eventually and WILL be detrimental to your site.
