i have a background image that i want to show through the tables i have set upon top of it. i've seen a post that shows css code to do this, but im not too familiar on how to use css or even where to put it. any html solutions to this problems? <br />

Just don't include the background="whatever" at all. From looking at your page it appears that you have it set to black currently. Just remove any instances of background stuff for the table and I think it will work. Hope that helps.
