I've recently made my first website using wordpress and have been trying to do some seo myself. It's been up for 10 days now. I'm on page five of google, which is terrible because I need to be getting work asap. However, I never thought about yahoo until today... I typed in my keywords, and came up at number one! The next two listings are directories, then my competitors started at number 4. Pretty bloody pleased about that. Seems crazy though, I'm page 5 on google, number 1 on yahoo. Is this normal? Will google get better for me soon?

and as far as I know, it would be hard to work on both SE at the same time for your site would definitely dance on ranking Take more time on Google, but don't neglect yahoo.. So that both will become balanced. Hi, Dagz
I think it would be a normal issue since it would be more competitors on Google since it owns about 70% of Internet searches.
Generally speaking, you need to update your websites regularly with niche relative posts and build more back links using your targeted keywords for going up to the first page on Google SERP.

Competitive localized site...against some "old" sites.... Google only bounts related backlinks while giving you rank. Yahoo consider all type of links..
