To Active-X or Not to Active-X?

Hi all,<BR><BR>In the old days(6 months ago!!) I would have used an Active-X control in my ASP3 apps to talk to the client com_port.<BR><BR>What is the latest Best Practice using ASP.net? - How should we write client-side controls? Visual Studio.net does not have an Active-X control template - So what's the crack?<BR><BR>Kindest Regards,<BR>Tony
