Whoa whoa whoa, before some of you article junkies jump down my throat for even proposing the death of article linking, hear me out.
I may be wrong because I am new to SEO, but from what I gather:
1)You write an article.
2)Place your link at the end.
3)Submit it to article directories.
If you submit to three article directories that gives you three links. (I may be wrong once again, but more than one article on one site doesn't help you any, does it? Suppose I was backlinking and I made two forum profiles and left the same link on both, it wouldn't be stronger than one, would it?) The theory of article linking is that someone will come along and copy your article for their blog/content and take the link with it; viral linking.
BUT, there are SO MANY ARTICLES on every subject. The chance of your article getting used seems very small to me. The way I see it, if you write an article with a link you should only count on it being one link.
So here, article linking seems useless to me.
OF COURSE, if someone does use your article it, their site would probably be relevant to yours and the article you wrote so the link that you get from them using your article would be stronger than a random forum or blog link. But still..
Please do correct me if/where/because I am wrong. Call me out and tell me how stupid and foolish I sound. This is just what I have concluded and how I view article linking.
Am I right or wrong?
