It appears in the devil browser (IE) that all text is only one word per line. Why is this happening?
Time to dump table layout for css?mmm... and that means redo everything without tables? that does not work for me. What would you think is causing this?

t.setting the width to 5px maybe?I'll figure it out.No time to do it right but plenty of time to fix it.not sure what that means, but I am pretty sure you're stupid. If that was a dig at ray saying he was stupid you must definatly have it all wrong ray has one of the best knowledges on this board mate. And a terrible personality to boot... Not sure about the knowledge part - just started visiting this slow to load site. We'll see as time goes by but he's not impressed me yet. What do you love him or something?Fang is correct. It is the use of tables for layout that caused your problem. A CSS/DIV layout would suit your needs much better, and would be much less work in the long run. Sharky is also correct, Ray is one of the 'high-rollers' here.

This is just my personal yet humble opinion. If you are in the market of building sites then each one should be built according to standards set by the W3C. Using these standards ensures that the site is cross browser compatible. The use of tables for layout is not symantecally (sp?) correct, and hence, non-standard.We agree to disagree.Take a look, if you dare...
I dont love him you sad little man but i would love to have the knowledge he has. Thanks Larry, Moe and Shemp... Although I disagree with your opinions a respect the effort put forth. Good day, I said good day!Originally posted by tbailey1027
not sure what that means, but I am pretty sure you're stupid. He means you're spending (wasting) tons of time hacking together a table layout when you should be doing things correctly via CSS. No need to get mad at the truth.Time-out, no need for the attitude.

tbailey1027, we are attempting to improve the quality of websites whilst solving problems.
Quality means; validation (http://validator.w3.org/) , standards (http://www.w3.org/) and accessibility (http://www.accessify.com/default.asp) .
The majority of regular users do not condone the use of tables for layout, preferring css as the best option.Hmm. This guy doesn't make any sense to me..... He comes here wanting a little advice; three of us answer with pretty much the same advice, and get insulted for our trouble.

A quote from your site, "..fastest loading times..". That's a laugh. Considering the MILES of crap code thats in your source from, as Fred put it, "hacking" you tables together. With the total use of CSS/DIV layout, you would slim that code down to about 1/4th it's current size. Instead, you're gonna patch like Microsoft (instead of starting over or elimnating the problem area and replacing it, you're just gonna write addition code to make it 'kind-of' work.) That doesn't make for a good site.I said good day... Good luck to you... : )No need to be insecure and insult. We have different opinions.Yes and good luck to us as were doing it the right way and we will be the ones which have cross browser accessible website take the adivce or not becuase it doesnt matter to us it will be us that will get employed at the end of the day.Originally posted by tbailey1027
No need to be insecure and insult. We have different opinions. It's not a matter of opinion, however. It's a simple fact: tables for layout is wrong. I think you have some reading to do: <http://www.hotdesign.com/seybold/>.Send me all the links you have. I am always amused by history. Seriously though, How counter productive is that approach?I see this forum needs some assistance. I'll keep an eye out. It's always godd to get a second opinion.Originally posted by tbailey1027
Send me all the links you have. I am always amused by history. Seriously though, How counter productive is that approach? Not nearly as counter productive as yours.

P.S. Amused by history, huh? Check out the source of your page. Eight tables. I wonder how many of them are displaying tabulated data? Then there's twenty-one spacer GIFs. No comment.Let me get this straight, you're demeaning the standards, the people on this board, and are selling web design without a knowledge of CORRECT HTML (http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1 ... om/web.php) ? You ever here of semantic code? It's code that makes sense. It's identical to proper english. And I don't expect any great written works from someone who can master the basics of the language.I looked at some of the sites you folks list as references and they are terrible... Again, good luck to you. Not sure what your problems are with my site but I am more than happy to helpName these sites and justify why they are terrible go for it we have justified yours.you're absurd. Good day, I said good day!No im realistic:oIt seems you resort to unjustified insults when provided with blatant facts. I'm sorry, but I don't think you really get the Web at all. You should also warn your clients that your sites will waste precious bandwidth and present tons of accessibility problems. Sorry man, but you can't argue with facts. And saying "you're absurd" or "you're stupid" just makes you look terribly immature.once again we disagree. Let me know if I can be of assistance to you in the future.Originally posted by tbailey1027
once again we disagree. Let me know if I can be of assistance to you in the future. I really hate to flip the bozo bit on you but I'll be rather surprised if your assistance will be required.dude, let it go...What's the point of arguing here? We're supposed to be sensible, mature people helping others!Originally posted by gohankid77

We're supposed to be. Some people don't get that.Originally posted by tbailey1027
once again we disagree. Let me know if I can be of assistance to you in the future.

Assistance?? Buddy, you got things backwards here, you need the assistance. Go ahead and continue using non-standard code and your hacked tables; we'll see how far you get in the development world. I have an idea. I bet that I can re-write that page to use a miniscule fraction of the code, and it will work in more browsers my way than yours. If you are willing, that is what I will do.As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. - Bible - Proverbs 26:11
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Bible - Proverbs 17:28I may be aethiest, but the bible does have some good proverbs. Don't argue with fools if you don't want to seem a fool yourself, the one who stops the pointless action is the wiser, the one who carries on and won't let go is a fool. Obviously TBailey is a fool who doesn't know what he's talking about, but also refuses to change his mind. Let it go.^^^^^^Smart Kid :)^^^^^^
Good point Omega, It just frustrates me a bit to think that he's trying to sell that trash to clients who think they are getting their money's worth.... lolOriginally posted by PhillMc
LOL! Thanks :D

I know he's selling+supporting bad wasteful code, but he's not alone. Many people have wasteful, crappy, code with tables and invalid code, but are too lazy to change their methods... (To keep in spirit of referencing proverbs/ sayings) it's like an old dog who's just too lazy to learn new tricks- or too dumb.
