Table and cells with BG

Why when you add a table background w/o CSS Style does it make the table bigger?<br />

I have cells with CSS bg code and it works when I set the table with CSS too.<br />

Why??<!--content-->I assume you are adding the image inside the table thus the table is accommodating for the contents, other than that you post translation didn't make too much sense.<br />

Since CSS background-image: does not alter the size of a table.<!--content-->
