hi: I am a linkmaster , i want to kown if tradeing with no-relevant websites can help my website .some one say it is bad way and make their website look like big link farm .but some one say it can improve their page rank .There is a segment frm a member of our forum : My reason for link swapping is higher PR and better search engine results position. In November I added about 35 PR4 links and in early December, my homepage went from PR4 up to PR5 and my inner pages went from PR2 to PR4. I think it is ture , because i have the same experience.what do you think about? post here .and if you interesting link exchange contact me my msn :register7038053icq:208317816yahoo :registerThe problem as you already have stated it may appear like a link farm... that is then going to penalize you as opposed to helping you.If you manage the links and have them categorized around content then as long as there is some relation to the content, there is a lower chance it would be deemed a linkfarm by spiders etc.Really, with search engines changing how they measure links and backlinks, then it is very hard to answer with any guarantee. There will always be people that say any links help while others say only relevant links - obviously relevant links seem more obvious as helping the site than non-relevant links but different search engines use different criteria (and always changing/adapting to combat artificial linking). With most things, it is time that determines link farms from link resources - the problem is initially it can look like a linkfarm and hold you back but after 1yr or so may appear as a link resource which could benefit you.My personal opinion is as 'learning' technology methods of spiders improve they will increasingly be looking at relation of the link to the website so in the long term I think it may adversely affect you. Short-term it will be like any new website - apparently of no interest to search engines because no other website links to it... a real catch 22.Could you define a link farm for me? I am assuming it's a page o' links - but how many is too many?I think it can also depend on the purpose of your website. If your website's sole purpose is to earn money by constantly recieving visitors from many different locations (such as the sites that link back to you) it could be benficial. Odds are they won't be returning visitors, as your site may just appear to be a link farm, but you'll always be getting new ones anyway. If your hoping to gather up a strong core of loyal visitors who return daily for your content and regular updates, rather then people who visit one time through a link exchange or search engine, then you'll want your website to be clean and free from the "link farm" image. Have link exchanges with relevant, quality websites. The sites that you link to and from can change a visitor's perception of your site, good or bad. So, just keep that in mind. kofoid wrote:
