Svg xml:space attribute issue

I have a svg document. In that document there is one \[code\]flowRoot\[/code\] element with some text and \[code\]text-align:Center\[/code\]. But the text will not get centered because it contains some with spaces at the starting. I do not know where these white spaces comes from, but there is one attributes \[code\]xml:space="preserv"\[/code\]. On removing of this attribute these white spaces gone. Can anybody explain me why this is happening ?
