damn it...all what I wrote got lost when I hit the preview button.......arrrrgggg I'lll post this first and try to edit ... what a pain--------------------Now editing....wrote so much all gone..Ohh my god!Not same anymore. I try again to recapture the last 30 minutes - but not same===================================== I'm at the moment with onsmart .. love the support, best I can imagine.I'm a newbie started 2 years ago with the php bible (Leaon Atkisnon/Zeev Suraski) plus MySql etc...developed a couple of sites. nearly null idea about hosting/security/upgrade issues developed some applictaions using MySql (blob's) they like performance. AT the moment I have 2 shared accounts and several sub-domains hosted at onsmart. What a support - that's why I said in the headline I'm spoiled. They helped me so much, even fixed my wrong htaccess, etc. etc...Great guys nice, friendly and competent. But they don't offer Managed Server. I think now I need more performance and I really would like to add new websites on the fly.(got so many domain names which I need to utilize) requirements:better performance as shared hosting.space: at least 50+ GBbandwidth: at leats for the moment 50+taking care backupsworld wide high speed accessable, hardly downtimes (what would mean loosing customer) Support: 24 hrs, best with chat windows, can't use the phone where I am. Please help - to guide me in the right direction.(I promise whenever I'm more knowlegeable I will help people like me too) Thanks a lot in advance.Kindest regards sloftIf your sites are not so busy, I recommend going for a managed vps instead of a dedicated server. A lot of good words have been said about Servint, PowerVPS, Liquidweb, to mention a few.highchief, Thank you very much for your reply and information. I will check the mentioned companies. Need to know if I can set up on a VPS hosting additional websites. Have a nice weekendChaiDeeYes you can, but I'd suggest your check what each provider classifys as managed.

They will manage the server/vps config but not individual website errors in most cases. Check out rackspace if you need your hand held with EVERYTHING.DHS,thanks , very good point!uffff... rackspace cheapest offer ... $400/month .. a little bit steep ...I was thinking max around $200uffff... rackspace cheapest offer ... $400/month .. a little bit steep ...I was thinking max around $200

Well, if you are really looking for a "superb managed hosting" provider, be prepared to spend more than $200/month, specially depending on your hardware specifications and bandwidth requirements, amongst other points you should consider.

Wow, what were you looking at, for the $400?

Dual Xeon?RackSpace charges a lot more than most places. They average $2/gb for bandwidth. They do and they dont'

The planet has fantastic high level support packages. But they're expensive (just like you're seeing here).

I think they get a bad rap becuase their normal tech support has a tendency to be... well.... you know. But their managed systems and higher end support packages have GREAT service, super fast first response and direct contact to a real (not low level) technician.

I would never have thought so, but try it once, they reall do have great high end service. At least from my experience.I did now an intermediate step and went for VPS hosting at the moment (a sugestion from a nice asian fellow).. which offfers upgrades up to dedicated managed hosting.Payed $55 (learning money) to a ok reviewed hoster mentioned a lot in the VPS section, no money back, gave it up after one week after sign-up - my VPS was still not functioning, (yes, the had HW trouble, note was down, etc.)I realized that I was very spoiled with my shared hosting support (best!) at onsmart.net at wooping ~$8/month.In this situation, I learned paying more doesn't mean equal good support. I digged more into this board and found (not very much mentioned) hosteasier.com,support isn't on such a personal hand holding level I'm used to, but so far straight to an explained solution. Moved over so far only a few of my none resource taking sites.Hope I'll be happy also after I moved my cpu/mysql intense sites. Thanks a lot for your feeback guys.check out the servers and prices at acunett

Did you really read the the title of this thread?

Unless EV1 is now providing managed hosting, I doubt you did so, plus this thread is some months old.
